SWIMMING TITLES

A team of swimmers from the Manawatu will' take part in the New Zealand championships which will lake place at the Olvmpic Pool. Newmarket, Auckland, on January 19. 23, and 22. The entry is a record one this year, and competitors from all over the Dominion will take nart. The Manawatu representatives aro all members of the Palmciston North Swimming Club, and will bo accompanied to Auckland by Mr and Mrs G. Trcmaine and the coach (Mr \V. Nicholls). They include A. Fyfe (freestyle events) and T. Franke (freestyle events). and Misses J. Unit (backstroke), J. Hodges (freestyle and brca«t?tro!<e), S. Harrison (breaststroke), and M. Tromninc (freestyle). Mr Nicholls slated to-day that he expects the team to swim well, but that it cannot hope to compete well with the best swimmers from other chihs owing to the lack of training facilities in Palmciston North.
