WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

At a meeting of Ilia executive committee of the Manawatu Federation of Women's Institutes Mrs T. D. Lynch (Ljnton) was in tho chair. Plensuro was expressed at Mrs A. J. Will's report that Mis A. Poaiianga, who is still in hospital, was making progress towards recovery. It was unanimously agreed to mako a donation towards tho expenses of tho women's franchise jubileo observance. Tho secretary, Mrs T. B. Collins (Rongotea), reported having sent a I telegram of congratulation to _ Mrs 11. Barnicoat, newly elected Dominion president, and her acknowledgment was read to the mooting The Ashhurst Woinonjs Institute forwarded a report of patriotic activities which was commended. Tho treasurer, Mrs H. V. Cavorliill (Rongotea,), presented tiro financial statcmonfc which was considered satisfactory. Arrangements wcro inado for tho half-yoarly council meeting to bo held at Newbury in October. It. was agreed to ppsipono tho proposed floral festival and to urge members to support tho Palmcrston North Horticultural Society's daft'ulil show. Mrs Lynch, as federation dologato to tho Dominion council, referred briefly to proceedings and her full report will bo presented next mooting. An appeal was made for support for tho shop and street day on behalf of tho Manawatu branch of tho Crippled Children Society.
