SHANNON

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tlio Moutoa branch, of the W.D.F.U. held its second anniversary dinner on Saturday evening in the Moutoa Hall. The president (Mrs S. W. Barber) presided. Tlicro was a good attendance of members and their husbands and visitors —Mrs 11. McLcavoy (Dominion treasurer), Oliau; Mrs Jenkins and Mrs Saint (Otaki), president and secretary respectively to tho Manawatu Centre, Mrs C. Guerin (president. Shannon W.D.F.U.), and Mrs J. T. Bovis (president. Shannon Women's InsliV'o). A lengthy toast list was honoured and musical items wore contributed by Miss Iris Sutherland (Palmcrston North), Mr Roy Algar (Glen Oroua), and Mrs S. W. Barber (Moutoa). Accompaniments were played by Mrs F. Bowo (Moutoa) and Miss F.dna Eyre (Palmcrston North). On Monday a complimentary evoning was tendered to Etc. J. Allerby and Airman M. Sandison in the Parish Hall. There was tho usual largo attendance, and the gnosis were tho recipients of good wishes and presentations from tho U.S.A. and tho Women's Institute. Mr 11. Wurman has returned from hospital and is making good progress. Sister Willis (district nurso' lias resumed duties after a four weeks' furlough. Sister Iris Sutherland, who has been relieving, has returned to Palmcrston North. Visitors to Shannon include Mr J. W. Murray (Tnknka), Mrs McGuekin (Ohingaittj, Mrs Pausina (Wairoa), and Mrs Bosweh (Glen' Oroua).
