FEILDING

The death occurred at Fcilding on Thursday of a well-known figure in the motor trade, Mr Charles E. Robinson. The late Mr'Robinson had been associated witli the motor trade over a long period of years, at one time representing overseas interests In accordance with the request of His Majesty the King, the national day of prayer was observed in Feilding to-day. Mass was celebrated in St. Brigid's Church at 7 aim., there being a very good attendance. At St. John's Anglican Church a united Holy Communion was celebrated by Yen. Archdeacon F. H. Petrie, assisted by Revs. B. F. Carlisle arid A. M. Ferguson, with about 160 communicants, representing, all denominations. The choir was in attendance. The induction of Rev. A. M. Ferguson, M.A., as minister of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Feilding, took place 'before a large congregation on Wednesday evening. The moderator of the Presbytery (Rev. A. A. Brash) presided and was-supported by Rev. G. W. T. Hercus (Presbytery clcrkl, Rev. R. Crockett (Bulls), Rev. Mr Dun (Westmere), Rev. A. W. Baxter (Apiti), Rev. Morrison Sutherland and Mr T. Pagan. The minister and congregation were addressed by the visiting ministers and the. incoming minister satisfactorily answered the prescribed questions, after-which the moderator formally completed the induction.- The congregation, adjourned to the church hall, where a welcominc function was given to Mr and Mrs "Ferguson. The opportunity was also taken to farewell Mr Sutherland, who for some months had filled the vacancy. As a memento of his stay at St. Paul's, Mr Sutherland was presented with some volumes. Goodwill messages were received from Rev. A. L. Dixon, Rev. W. T. Blight (Methodist Church, Feilding); and Mr Thomas Watson (Melbourne). Mr Hercus' conveyed apologies from the interim moderator for his inability to be present and also from Rev. R. Warnoek.
