GERMAN TERROR
UNABATED IN BELGRADE GHASTLY TREATMENT (N.Z. Press Association.—Copyright.) (liec. 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 2. The Yugoslav authorities in London have received a report from a person who left Belgrade on June 18 that the terror which started on the first day of the German occupation is continuing with unabated fury. Belgrade is flooded with Gestapo agents who treat the population in a ghastly manner. Often people are stopped in the streets by plain-clothes police and beaten or whipped and then taken to Gestapo dungeons, where they are shockingly treated. Prisoners suspected of guerrilla activities or connection with patriot organisations after preliminary examination are usually taken to barracks near Belgrade, where the Germans have established a huge concentration camp. Hundreds are taken daily to the camp, and hardly a day passes without hundreds being taken out for mass shooting. NAZI MOVE IN GREECE.
The Germans have extended their military occupation of Greece to Epirus, with Preveza as the main base, according to information reaching Greek circles in London. German forces also appeared at Mossolonghi. The German Director of Road Construction (Dr. Mueller) has been made Governor: of Salonika; while the Greek Governor; to the duties ofTas'epuncillor.. way to ;Epirus,f:-the'German ,f '?tr()ops set* fire to forests to deprive the guerrillas of cover.—Official Wireless.
