REBATE ON RATES

Following the Government's decision to increase the subsidy to hospital boards for in-patients from 6s to '.9s a day, the Rangitikei County Council has decided to make a rebate of one penny in each shilling on all rates struck for the current financial year. This decision was reached by the council at its monthly meeting yesterday, when the Wanganui Hospital Board advised that, after a reduction of £6564 12s in the Government maintenance subsidy had been taken into consideration the increase in inpatients' fees from the Social Security Fund meant a total net reduction of £4376 in levies on all local bodies in the board's district.
