LONE YACHTSMAN
BUENOS AIRES TO DOMINION. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 27. One hundred and lour days aftsr he left Capetown alone in his 40-i'oot yacht, Scnor Vito Dumas, an Argentinian rancher, arrived in Wellington to-day in the course of a long voyage from Buenos Aires. After his long and solitary trip he was badly in need of rest when he arrived and feeling the strain. He is no stranger to ocean-going trips in his yacht, however. Previously he made a trip from Buenos Aires to Africa and along tlie Mediterranean coast. He wrote a book about his experiences on this previous adventure. He expects to spend about 20 days in Wellington before continuing Ins wanderings. He is flying the flag of Argentina, one of the few neutral countries. The yacht caused as great an interest among those privileged to be on the wharves as that of any of the large ships which have entered tho port since the war began. Senor Dumas, as far as could be ascertained to-night, had no great adventures on the way over. In his own country lie is a well-known yachtsman and polo player. He did not even have the company of a ship’s dog or cat on his lone voyage. . An official, who interviewed him on his arrival, said there was not even the signs of a mouse aboard.
