EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” OCTOBER 9, 1912. Greece had described the Turkish seizure of Greek ships in the Bosphorus as an act of piracy, and had sent a protest to the Turkish Government. King Nicholas of Montenegro had arrived at the frontier posts, and tho inhabitants of the chief Albanian port of Scutari had proclaimed him king and begged him to occupy their city. The Montenegrin army, 40,000 strong. was composed entirely of militia and highland infantry, and lacked the transport necessary for a successful invasion of Turkey. Rumania bad taken a neutral stand, but military manoeuvres were being held, while her air force was the best in the Balkans.
