AN UNLIKELY CLAIM

(Roc. 10,20 a.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 25. The enemy announcement that Japanese naval units have joined forces with German warships in the Atlantic is regarded in London naval circles as political propaganda. It has been pointed out that a submarine with a particularly valuable cargo or personnel might make the long journey from Singapore or Java if the Japanese had naval units to spare for such a purpose, but it would be done only in the most cxoeptional circumstances. There is no actual knowledge of such an operation having taken place.— Official Wireless.
