(Rec. 11 a.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 23. A Caribou (Maine) message states that two army planes exploded in mid-air 15 miles apart and crashed in flames simultaneously, killing botli crews, numbering 13 persons. The first plane caught fire over a highway. •Terrified motorists halted their cars and watched the plane graze the roadside and tree-tops, plummet to earth and explode, scattering debris and seven bodies over a hundred acres. Meanwhile, the other plane plunged into a wooded ridge. Witnesses said the plane seemed to come apart in the air..
