LEADER VISITS WOODVILLE. Mr S .0. Holland. M.P., Leader of the Opposition, who is making; a farewell tour prior to his departure lor England, where he will he the guest of the Empire Parliamentary Association, arrived in Woodville last evening. Accompanying, him on the tour arc Mr A. Gordon and Mr T. G. Wilkes, Dominion president and general secretary, respectively, of the National Party. During the day the visitors hail traversed' Hawke’s tiny, their itinerary including Napier, Hastings, and Woodville. To-day they travelled to Wellington via Mastcrton. In the Women’s Institute Hall last evening, Mr Holland and party were met by a large assemblage of electors and delegates from various parts of the Pahiutua electorate, and a welcome was extended Lo Mr Holland by the Mayor of Woodville (Mr I! .H. Johnston). The meeting was presided over by .Mr 11. P. Horne, and in the company on the stage was Sir Allred Hansom, M.P., who conveyed to Mr Holland the electorate’s good wishes for an enjoyable and successful tour abroad. Amongst matters of public interest referred to by M.r Holland was the postponement of the general election and the extension ot the lile of the present Parliament, and in connection with this matter also. Air Gordon explained that, in regard to National Party, candidates who had been sclecv .cd on the assumption that there would be a general election, the Dominion council of the party bad decided that in the event of an election being held next year each electorate would be asked to confirm the selection not later than August 31 or intimate its pretcrcncc to call for fresh noniinatitrts.

Re lore the meeting closed a'resolution expressing confidence in Mr Holland as Parliamentary leader of the National Party and support for his action in connection with the postponement of the general election was carried.
