SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS.

The Palmerston North branch of the South African Veterans’ Association hold its quarterly meeting at Feilding on Saturday night, when Mr D. ileid presided over a fair attendance of veterans. A vote of condolence was passed to the relatives of the late Major F. Garner and Mr J. Carson. Major Garner was patron of the association, which was represented at the funeral by Messrs Crawford and Newman as pall-bearers. Messrs D. Reid and R. A. Metcalfe, who represented the branch at the annual conference held, in Wellington, gave.a resume of the business and activities of the association. Routine business was transacted, after which refreshments were partaken of and reminiscences were exchanged.
