The shots missed. The attempt was made while Mussolini was reviewing troops about to be sent to the Eastern Front.

Hie details were closely guarded, but it is known the attempt was made by Luigi Roazio, a Royalist belonging to the now anti-German opposition group headed by Signor Starace and General Mini.

Starace was deprived of tho post of Chief ol Staff of the Fascist Militia last May. AluLi succeeded Starace as the secretary of the Fascist Party, but resigned a year later.
