DECREASE SHOWN.

SALES OF ELECTRIC CURRENT. A decrease of £'33G in the total sales of current for June, 1941, compared with the corresponding month ol fast year, was shown in the report of the managing-secretary (Dir K. AV. Eglinton) to the meeting of the ManawatuOroua Power Board to-day. The sales for June. 1941, totalled £BG69, as against £9205. Mr Eglinton stated this was ihc first occasion for a long time on which the board had not shown an increase, and this could be accounted for by the restricted u*o of current by freezing works, the reduction of the industrial tariff and the effect of daylight saving, and also, as shown by the lighting, heating, and cooking figures, a reduction in consumption which for a long period under this latter heading has shown considerable increases.
