FISHING WITH GRENADES.

CAIRO. May 24. Thanks indirectly to the Italians the British troops now in the desert near the Libyan border are having plenty ot fresh fish to vary the monotony of their diet. The Italians were always equipped with thousands of little' red hand grenades which, however, proved quite ineffective in action. Croat stocks of these were collected after the Italian defeats, but nobody found any use for them except as cigarette cases until an American officer who was in the desert as an observer suggested using them to dynamite fish in the Mediterranean.

This proved an excellent practical idea and now special fishing parties are detailed to go to the coast and blow up enough fish lor the camps.
