AFTER THE WAR.
CHURCH OF ENGLAND AIM'S. LONDON May. 22 A scheme aiming at the reorganisation of the Church of England alter the war will bo discussed at the Church Assembly oil June 17, when the Diocesan Reorganisation Committee, under the presidency of the Bishop of London (Rt. Rev. G. I l ’. L’isher) will table proposals. Many bombed churches may be classed as redundant and may not be rebuilt. Other proposals include the corporate treatment of church damage. irrespective of denomination, instead of Individual; diocesan committees to decide the number-of churches needed; and the disposal of rambling parsonages in favour of modern accommodation. The Government is seeking the cooperation of the Churches in the “Dig for Victory” campaign. The Ministry of Agriculture has issued a memorandum containing appropriate texts and sermon notes, including “there is much food in the tillage of the poor, and ‘‘Whatsoever a man sowetli, that shall In- also reap.” The kernel of the sermon synopses is “God meant men to till the ground. Our country needs men to till the ground.”
