\li-s XV Wales has returned io her home in Marton after spending a holiday in Auckland, Tauranga and Rotorua.
A bogey competition played by members of the Hawkestone Ladies’ Golf Club resulted : Airs Wineheombe all square: Airs AlcLcan and Miss .McDonald, 5 down. A stroke competition conducted bv the Marlon Golf Club on Saturday afternoon was won by T. C. Ward. 95—25—70. H. W. Collier was runner-up with 86—15 —71. Members of B Company of the Afarton Home Guard Battalion were transported to the Santoft area, on Sunday to inspect tlie locality so as to familiarise themselves with the sea frontage, which the company will have to defend in an emergency.
A pantry parly for Miss Itoycc Mogridge and Mr G. I.ourie. Marion, who are shortly to be married, was given on Saturday by Mesdames A. I'urric and 11. 1.. Grut, at the resilience of Mr and Mrs Grut, Broadwav, Marlon.
A recount of votes in the Mnrton Borough Council election was carried out yesterday and resulted irt W. 11. Wineheouibe heading A. A. McTndoc by seven votes for last position in the council.
