STRIKE IN AMERICA

(12.40 p.nt.) NEW YORK, May 13. The construction of 27 destroyers and 43 naval auxiliaries has been halted by an American Federation of Labour and Congress of Industrial Organisations joint strike at eleven Pacific Coast shipyards. The strike has spread to Boston and stopped work on a new dry dock, despite the Government's and union leaders’ protests. Tlie strikers are 1700 machinists, but 20.000 other workmen are thereby rendered idle.
