EDUCATION IN BRITAIN
POST-AVAR PLANS. (British Official • AVireless.) RUGBY. May 12. The President of the Board ol Education (Air Ramsbothani) told the London branch of the National Union of Teachers to-day that -proposals for future educational planning would soon he available to serve as a basis for discussion with the local education authorities and the teachers. The three main lines of an advance to be undertaken as soon as possible after the war would be (the Minister said:) (1) Raising of the school leaving age to 15 without exemption. (2) Establishment of day continuation schools. (3) Reform and expansion of the secondary school system.
Referring to religious teaching in the schools, the Minister said there was growing unity among the religious bodies and there were indications that flic cause of Christian education would no longer be injured by controversies between Christian communities.
