MAGISTRATE’S COURT

At a sitting of the Alagistrate’s Court yesterday, Air H. P. Lawry, S.AL, presided. It. W. Austin, of AVoodville, charged with unlawful conversion of a motor-car at Ashhurst, pleaded guilty. Senior-iScrgeant Mclntyre stated that accused had a craze for dances and had acted under impulse. He could not explain the lapse. The Alagislratc commented on accused’s past record and released him on probation for two years, a special condition being that lie did not attend dances or drive a motor-car during this period without the consent of the probation officer. FoY riding a bicycle at night time without ia light, G. Bruce was fined 10s with 10s costs. D. J. Harnett, for failing to give way to traffic on liis right, was fined £2 with costs 11s. S. W. Hardie, for not having a warrant of fitness for his motor-car, was fined 10s with costs 10s. E. R. Ennis, for failing to register under the national emergency regulations, was convicted and fined £2 with costs 10s.

In the Alagistrale’s Court, 'to-day, Erie Joseph Fleming, of no fixed abode, was charged before Air H, P. Lawry, S.AL, with the theft of a quantity of fish, the property of A. Alackrcs; with unlawfully attempting to convert to his own use a motor-ear valued at £2OO, the property •of N. Beverage; and, also with breaking his prohibition order. On the request of Senior-Sergeant J. Alclntyrc, accused was remanded to appear on Friday.
