OBITUARY
MRS S. A. SIMPSON
The death occurred at Marion, yesterday, at the residence of Mr J. Hunter, ot .Mrs S. A. Simpson, widow ol the Jate Mr (j. A. Simpson, who formerly resided at Orou,a Downs and was at one time Mayor of Koxton. She was 79 years of age and will he remembered by the older residents of 'the Koxton district.
'I lie late Mrs Simpson was born in Itiiigland ami came to New Zealand with her parents at the age of two. She was brought up in the Thames district, when that area was largely undeveloped and gold was practically the only interest. At a later stage Mrs Simpson’s parents, the laic Miami Mrs E. Westwood, settled at Oroua Downs, about 70 years ago. I‘ollowing her marriage Mrs Simpson resided in Foxton lor a long period. Ihe members of their family being born and brought up there. At a later stage Mr ami Mrs Simpson removed to Palmerston North where they lived for a number of years. Mr Simpson predeceased Airs Simpson by IS years. Mrs Simpson continued to reside at Palmerston North and was visiting a daughter at Merton when her death occurred. She was of a quiet and loving nature and her chief interests were in her family and her church.
There arc three sons and oiHit daughters in Mrs Simpson’s family, the members being as follow; Mesdames J. Hunter (Marlon! H MeLaggan. F. Seivet. and Miss 'Mona Simpson (Palmerston North), Mesdames R. G. Hickson (Olahuhn). j. Anderson (Tokomaru), It. Jenkins (Penrose, Auckland) and C. Neilsen (Aol«on), and "Messrs C. lj. Sirnpson tingle wood). .Gordon (Makoi'utt) and Lewis (Wairoa).
