FIRST WAR AIM

DESTRUCTION OF EVIL FORCE .LONDON, May 11.

The Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr Cosmo Lang) broadcast a message today from a London meeting convened by the Sword of the Spirit organisation, which was founded by Cardinal Kinsley, head of the Roman Catholic Church in Britain. Dr Lang said that Britain’s first war aim was the destruction of the powerful evil force of Germany and the liberation of the nations held in bondage. It was plain that men had trusted in themselves and neglected God, and the wrong use of science had subordinated man to the machine. It ■would help in the immediate struggle if they could look beyond the immediate darkness to the coining of a better day. The meeting carried a resolution which ' gave a united lend on the foundation of a just peace expressed in a letter signed by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, Cardinal TTin.slev. and the Moderator of the Free Church Council.
