NAZIS TAKE ISLAND

DEVELOPMENT IN GREECE. (Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, May 12. A Berlin message says Nazi troops in a surprise attack occupied the Greek Island of Milos, capturing 178 British and 200 Greek troops. The island of Milos (or Milo) in the Cyclades group, is 11 miles long by eight miles wide and is of volcanic origin. Plaka is the capital. On the site of ancient Melos were found the Venus de Milo and other works of ancient art. The island had a population before the war of about 5500.
