The Dean of Hamilton, Very Rev. T. P. YYeatherhog. has been appointed chaplain of a hospital ship. Private cable advice has been received in Palmerston North irotn Lance-Corporal Brian Edmundson. of the Second N.Z.K.E.. who formerlyresided in the -1* eilding district, that he is safe and well. YY'ing-Commander AT. AY r . Buckley, AT.B.E., till recently commanding officer of the New Zealand Bomber Squadron in Britain. has been promoted to tlie rank of group-captain. He lta.s returned to take command of the station at which the New Zealand squadron has its headquarters. AY'ingCommander C. E. Kay, 8.F.C., 0.8. E., is now commanding the New Zealanders.

The Minister of Education (Afr H. G. R. Afason) and the Director of Education (Dr C. E. C. Bcehy) were visitors to Palmerston North to-day, when they attended and addressed the refresher' course for teachers being conducted at the,-Central School. The visitors were met by Air AA T . H. Brown (a member of the Wanganui Education Board) and'- Mr G. N. Boulton (secretary of the hoard). ATr Alasou and Dr Bcehy. accompanied by Afr Boulton, left later in the day fnr Wanganui. where they- visited another refresher course.

Before joining the Royal New Zealand Air Force last'year. SergeantObserver Openshaw. who is 33 years of age, was; a wireless operator for seven years on the sea-going staff of the Union Steamship Company.
