LADY GALWAY GUILD.
The packing and sorting of all contributions of clothing from branches of the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild (N.Z.), from as far north as Gisborne and New Plymouth, to Nelson and Marlborough in the south, will now he undertaken by the Wellington branch of the guild. This was announced at ti meeting of the Wellington committee of which the Mayoress (.Mrs T. C. A. Hislop) is chairwoman. The decision to make this work the responsibility of the Wellington branch was reached at the last meeting of the national executive. The [jacking and sorting was formerly undertaken at Government House, where the headquarters were also situated. The national office will still be ri Wellington, but is to exist in an administrative and executive capacity only. Lady Newall is president of the guild, .Mrs P.- Fraser vice-president and Airs Knox Gilmer is the chairwoman. When the above information was referred to .Mrs G. C. Petersen (chairwoman of the local Lady Galway Guild) she said that she had so far received no notification on the subject, but that some time ago an assurance had been given that goods packed by the Palmerston North Guild would not be re-opened. The clothes would still have to be packed for despatch to Wellington and there seemed to be unnecessary trouble involved in repacking them. . Mrs W. A. Jacques (secretary of the United Guild) said she had been given to understand that cases of unsuitable size or containing mixed garments would be re-packed into regulation cases, oaeh containing only one type of garment, but that correctly packed cases from guilds whose work was known would be left undisturbed.
