SHIPS AND PLANES

AMERICA'S GROWING HELP

(United Press Association —Copyright.) (12.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 2.

The delivery of 2o of the 50 oil tankers promised to Britain will be made immediately. The tankers total about half a million tons of the two millionton shipping pool. Meanwhile, the Administration has arranged to get from private industrial firms and air lines '2O to HO large transport planes within 48 hours and more later. Probably .30 to 75 planes in all will be sent to Britain without waiting to be converted to military use.

It is understood the navy's extended Atlantic patrol is getting into full operation.

In Tokio, banners carrying the slogans "Arm the entire nation; advance strongly against the United States; extended patrols will lead to sending an American expeditionary force overseas," were displayed to-day. They added that the patrol was not neutral because of the announced plan for reporting the whereabouts of German craft.
