MYSTERY RIDICULED

-All! COAVARD’S TOUR. .LONDON. April 11. I Air Noel Coward, who returned by air from America, in an interview ridiculed any mystery about his tour. “It teas official or semi-official all the time.’’ said Air Coward. “1 have been an Englishman abroad. I think my brains are of more service to Britain than my body.” Air Coward said that while in America it had been proposed that ho should report to the then British Ambassador, Lord Lothian- —who has since died —on the attitude of Americans to the war situation. "I went to Australia at the request of the Australian Alinister in AVushington (Afr R. G. Casey).’’ stated Air Coward. “I spent seven weeks telling the Australians what England was doing. “It was a strenuous job. I broadcast twice a week, made public speeches, and gave 1400 hand-shakos a day. I was able to raise more than £lO 000 by concerts for the Australian Red Cross and £2OOO ior England. Then I went to New Zealand for the same purposes.”

Referring to newspaper stories of his activities, Air Coward said: “I read rather unpleasant tilings. Many are very unkind, and some are extremely stupid.”
