HALCOMBE
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Malcombe-Kiikariki brunch of the W.D.F.U. held its monthly meeting recently, when Mrs F. Brett presided. Two visitors wero welcomed, Mrs P. Malone and Mrs J. Bildcrbeck. It was decided to pack three parcels for soldiers, members
donating the contents. Mrs Brett offered to make a wreath for‘ the .soldiers’ memorial on Anzac Day. The division funds benefited considerably by the holding of the dahlia show. The competition resulted: Mrs J. L. Fcrgusson 1. Mrs F. Brett 2. Tho competitions for next month arc to be : Best bloom and a pair of knitted bootees (to be sent to refugee babies). At the annual meeting of the Jlalcombe Golf Club the report and balance-sheet were adopted. The president (Mr G. Nicol) commented on tho improved standard of play shown by members. The season had proved both interesting and enjoyable. The election of officers resulted: —Patron, Mr R. J. Managh; president, Mr J. O'Sullivan ; vice-president, Mr L. Forgusson; secretary and treasurer, Mr 1. G. Owen ; club captain, Mr N. J. Anderson; committee, Messrs L). Managh, G. Bevan, K. Fcrgusson, C. Forgusson and G. Judd; I auditor, Mr L. W. A. Miller. It was resolved to forward a letter of appreciation to Mrs A. Ward for her services, A Canadian mixed foursome will bo held on opening day. Mrs R. J. Managh was unanimously elected a life member. At a subsequent executive meeting tho following committees wero formed: Greens, Messrs L. Fcrgusson, R. J. Managh and D. C. Managh; match, Messrs G. Bevan, N. Anderson, K. Fcrgusson, J. O’Sullivan. At tho annual meeting of the ladies’ golf club officers elected were: Captain, Mrs E. W. Cowdrey; vice-captain, Mrs G. Nicol ; secretary, Mrs R. 3 .Managh: committee, Mcsdanics . L. Fcrgusson, N. E. Ashworth, J. L. Fcrgusson, D. ’ CJ. Managh, J. O’Sullivan, and Miss 0. Fcrgusson; handicapping committee, Mesdames G. Nicol, E. Cowdrey, and R. Managh. It was decided that all competitions this year will be played on Salurday over io holes. A dance will he hold in May, particulars of which will appear •„ iU. Qlnnrlnrrl ”
Mr G. Robinson, who has boon in hospital in Marlon, has now returned homo. Mrs E. W. Cowdrey has returned from a holiday spent in Rotorua. Mr K. Wapp, of the Post Office staff, is spending his annual leave in Levin.
