Delegates were present from Bulls, Marton, Iliinterville, Taihapc and Waimarino at the annual meeting of the Wanganui District Committee of the Fed-, oration of Young Farmers’ Clubs, hold in Marton. Mr C. B. Anderson (Bull?) was in the chair. Officers elected for the ensuing year were: —Patron, Mr E. B. Gordon, M.P. ; chairman, Mr J. Gilbert (Taihape) ; vice-chairman, Mr S. G. Avery (Bulls) ; advisory members, Messrs G. Bromley (Mangawcka), A. Scarrow (Ractihi); secretary. Mr A. R. Dingwall (Wanganui) : active members. Messrs A. 15. Marshall (Marton), C. J. Craig (Iliinterville). R. Collcrton (Taihape), A. I. Todd (Waimarino) ; co-opted members, Messrs C. B. Anderson (Bulls), J. Bartosh (Taihape), and V. E. Toulmin (Iluntervillp). Other representatives are to be invited from the Marton and Wanganui A. and P. Associations, Wellington Central Provincial Executive Farmers’ Union, and the . Southdown and Romney Breeders’ Associations. Mr C. ,T. Hambiyn, fields superintendent, Palmerston North, is an cx-offieio representative. Delegates to the Wellington Council elected were, Messrs Toulmin, Gilbert and Avery. It was reported tiiat at present there arc 24 members of Y r oung Farmers’ Clubs in tbe Wanganui district serving in the armed forces overseas. There are seven clubs in the district—Bulls, Marton, . Waimarino, Huntcrville, Mangaweka, Westmere and Taihape, with a combined membership of 287. In tbe first year of operation, 193839, tbe membership was 281, and the following year 371. Tbe annual meeting of the Marton SubCentro of the Red Cross Society was held on Monday, Mr F. Purnell, president of the Wanganui Centre, and retiring president of the sub-centre, presiding. Tho report and balance sheet were adopted. Mr Purnell, who intimated that he was not seeking re-election to tho office of president, was accorded thanks for his past services. Glasgow, Misses I. Crooke, V. Grade, B. Crooke, L. Cook, M. Beckett and K. Galpin ; committee representing country districts, Mrs L. Duckworth (Tutacnui), Airs W. Simpson (Fern Flats and Bonny Glen), Mrs 11. B. Bayley (South Makirikiri and CTofton), and Mrs R. K. Simpson (Cliff Road) ; delegates to Wanganui Centre, Mr F. Purnell, Mrs R. Wilson and Miss I. Crooke.
