MALTA HEAVILY RAIDED
WA R SHI PS TTT ACK ED. (Rec. 9.15 a.m.) ROMK, April 29. The Stefani Agency saws the Luftwaffe attacked Malta to-'V'. The raid was the heaviest Malta h.'.s suffered. Fires broke out in the arsenal, also the port of Valetta. Several warships, including a cruiser, were damaged. The raiders encountered violent antiaircraft fire, also “clusters of lights projected by powerful reflectors intended to hide objectives.” A British Official Wireless report says British fighters shot down a Messerschmitt 109 over Malta yesterday
