CROQUET CLUB
At the annual meeting of the Croquet Club Mrs Halpin presided. The report slated that the season had been one of the most successful in the history of the club; games and tournaments (reports of which have already been published) were received and mention made of the losa to ihe club of Mrs T. Coatsworth, who has left the district. In connection with the war, the club members were associated with the various organisations engaged in patriotic efforts. Praise was due to the caretaker Mr Cann, Mr C. Smith, and the secretary and supervisor, Mrs\C. Smith. The Goldfinch Buttons and Goldfinch Cup competitions were keenly contested, ihe former going to Mesdamcs llouton and Guest and the latter to Mrs C. Smith. The report concluded with thanks to all who had hfclped the club. The report and bal-ance-sheet wcro adopted, and officers were elected as follow: —President, Mrs Halpin; vice-president, Mrs Whillans; secretary, Mrs C Smith; treasurer, Whillans; supervisor, Mrs Jamicson; as-sistant-supervisor, Mrs F. Honten; referees, Meedames McCarthy, Kenyan and' Halpin; handicap, games and green committee, Mesdamos Kcnyon, McCarthy, Jamieson. Halpin "and Houten; reporter, Mrs Halpin. The services of (he secretary (Mrs Smith) were acknowledged by the presentation of a jug. A substantial increase in the membership was reported.
