ISSUE OF "MORALE" CARDS

Adopting a recommendation from the works committee, the Palmerston N'orth City Council last evening decided that no action be taken regarding the payment of any portion of the cost of production and distribution ot the "Morale" cards distributed throughout the'eity a short time ago. It was explained to-day that the subject was first placed before the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford), yho was asked to enquire if the council would undertake such a contribution. He had previously told the council, when the matter of the use of the councillors' signatures and the city seal was brought forward. that the matter would not cost the council anything and since then, members of tho council had told various persons that the council had not committed itselt for anv monetary payments in connection with the card. It was in view of these circumstances, it was explained that the clause was brought forward and passed.
