AXIS HARRIED

POSITION AT SOLLUM. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Pec. 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, April 28. The Germans and Italians occupied Solium, just across the Egyptian frontier, on Saturday, according to military sources in Cairo, but the harassing tactics by a British armoured division have so far prevented further penetration. The R.A.F. continues to hammer the enemy's lines, destroying reinforcements and supplies, and the position is regarded as satisfactory. An Italian communique admits that Dessye (Abvssinia) has been evacuated. It says members of the air force and Blackaliirts have occupied the island of Corfu, off the lonian coast of Greece. The headquarters of the Free French| Forces in London states that it has no knowledge of the attacks which, according to rumours circulated by Vichy, are being made by the Eree French, supported by British units, against the French colony of Djibuti. It suggests that this information should be viewed with the greatest reserve, as it has every appearance of being the news of a spontaneous movement in the midst of the French garrison itself at Djibuti which, together with the civil population, has been known for a long time to have cherished a very favourable feeling towards Free France. The statement recalls that following the armistice Djibuti was one of the first of the French possessions to send out a call for continued resistance.
