BRITAIN’S CONFIDENCE

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE. . (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 11.10 a.m.) III'GUV, April 28. The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir Kingsley Wood), speaking of the work of the War Damage Commission, said Britain had made greater provision for those suffering from enemy attack than any other country in the world. “We have made a full and comprehensive provision for personal injuries and war damage, and there are many arrangements and adjustments designed to assist those in financial difficulties because of the war. “It can truly be said that no nation which is not confident both of its ability and its determination to achieve victory would have embarked upon such commitments and undertakings.” The noted economist. Mr J. M. Keynes, is making a brief visit to Washington at the request of the Chancellor of the Exchequer to confer with the United states Administration and the British Supply Council on the operation of the Lease or Lend Act and other related matters.
