CAR’S FATAL PLUNGE

(Press Assn.) , AVATHI, April 28. When the motor-car which she was driving struck a bank on the. road between Waikino and At aihi and plunged 2.5 feet into the Ohinemufi ltiver late yesterday afternoon, Miss Annie Jlvan, aged 38, of AVaihou, was killed. Aliss Ryan was accompanied by Mr T. J. Alan nix, also of AVaihou, who managed to open a door of the ear and escape. He made desperate efforts to release Miss Ryan, who, apparently. was -jam bed between the steering-wheel and the door, but without success.
