ONSLAUGHT AT KEREN. (Rec. 1.50 p.m.) LONDON, Marcli 24. . The battle for Keren has entered Die ninth day with sustained fury. The Times correspondent near- Keren emphasises that the ridge of the Eritrean escarpment is still in the Italians’ hands, but British and Indian infantry continue to advance grimly up the slopes while the mountains echo with the explosions of shells and bombs as our artillery and the R.A.F. unceasingly blast the enemy positions. Three vital peaks must be taken before Keren falls. It. is now known 'that a large number of the Italians guarding Keren have been killed and wounded, and much of their artillery is out. of action, but the defenders seem eager to show the world they are able to fight bravely and well when they wish.
