METHODIST CHURCH.
MISSIONARY UNION. There 'wore about fifty members of the Palmerston North Methodist Women's Misisonary Union present at a meeting held recently in the Cuba Street School, Mrs T. P. Hodder presiding. Mrs A. It. SerLven offered prayer and read the lesson. Sympathetic reference "was made to the death of Mrs George Young. Mrs Hodder said all had experienced a sense of great loss. The deceased lady by her quiet Christie) n character, had endeared herself to all, and death had removed one whom they greatly loved. Present at the meeting was Mrs C. E. Taylor, Dominion president, who received a very cordial welcome. Mrs Taylor made an urgent appeal for greater sacrifice in support of missions. With Scripture references she contrasted their offerings with the widow, who gave her all, and the supreme sacrifice made by the Saviour. The union, through its members individually, must have a threefold purpose—they must trust more, love more, and pray more. In so doing great joy would come to them and they would experience God's richest blessings. The speaker urged all to help to their utmost with Easter offerings; the need was great. On the motion of Mrs H. L. Eicbig, Mrs Taylor was accorded thanks.
