"SOMEONE AT THE DOOR."

LITTLE THEATRE PRODUCTION ENDS.

The final performance of "Someone at the Door," the Little Theatre Society's opening production for 1941, was attended by a large and appreciative audience on Saturday night, when the players again gave an excellent rendition, reflecting great credit on themselves and the producer, Mr Ronald Kees.

Mr J. C. Young, president of the society, thanked the players, particularly complimenting Miss Jean Clarke, who was making her first appearance in a major production and was the only feminine piayer in the cast. Mr llees was thanked for his splendid work as producer, under many difficulties; Mr Bernard Cox for designing the attractive stage setting; and the back-stage workers for their help. Mr Young urged those present to support the society in its work and to enlist the support of their friends. He considered that valuable work was being done in providing relaxation in these- trying times, and the committee had prepared a full and interesting programme for the year. Mr Rees returned thanks for the enthusiastic reception accorded the production and paid tribute to the teamwork of the cast and particularly of the back-stage workers, upon whom 60 much depended. He stressed the necessity of keeping theatrical work alive, in spite of difficulties, saying that those who had gone overseas -wished to think that their interests were being kept alive and would still be flourishing when they returned. Miss Clarke was the recipient of floral and other tributes, other members of the cast also being honoured. Mr and Mrs Young entertained the cast, helpers and committee to 6upper on the stage, Mrs Young wearing a frock of parma violet georgette with contrasting corsage. Mr Young expressed pleasure at meeting the members informally and thanked Mesdames G. C. Petersen and It. Allison and. their assistants tor serving supper. He also paid a tribute to Mrs V. E. Harmaji for her work as secretary. Mr Rees thanked Mr and Mrs Young for their hospitality, saying how much such gatherings were appreciated after the strenuous work of rehearsals and performances.
