AMERICAN AMBULANCES

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, March 11. Approximately £2OOO a week is required to meet maintenance costs of American ambulance organisation in Britain. This was revealed by Mr Carr, director of the American Ambulance in Britain, to-day. This, he said, was borne entirely by subscription from the United States and American residents of Britain. Recently a donation of 100,000 dollars was received from the British War Relief Society of America lor the maintenance of the fleet of 260 motorised ambulances, surgical units, and mobile first aid points. The American Ambulance established a record recently, Mr Carr said, when in' four hours it evacuated 428 people from a Cardiff hospital during a heavy air raid.
