PATRIOTIC APPEAL.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 10. IJic first Dominion figures in the £1,000,000 All-Purposes Patriotic Appeal show there is nearly £250,000 in sight, which, considering that, with the exception of Otago and Southland, New Zealand is not yet fully undet way. is thought by Major Abel to he quite satisfactory and showing that, within the allotted period ending about Faster. the full amount will be reached. The provincial figures to date are: Otago £60,000, Auckland, £36,000, Canterbury £25,000, Wellington £31,900. East Const £17,200, Southland £BBOO, Hawke’s Bay £7400, Nelson £5200, Taranaki £3500, Marlborough £2400, Westland £2200.
To date tne r.iauawalu appeal has yielded £S3OO- It wouid be seen from these figures, said Major Abel, what a wonderful effort had been made in the Mauuwatu in the past two weeks.
