HOSTELS FOR HOMELESS
NEW SCHEME IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) / (Rec. 11.7 a.m.) RUGBY, Oct. 25. The work of providing residential hostels for those rendered homeless by enemy action or deprived of women members of the family through evacuation or other war reasons is being undertaken by an association which the Government is setting up. The association, of which Miss F. Horsbrugh (Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Health) will be chairman, will he carried on on a. nonprofit making basis. It is anticipated that, once having' acquired and equipped suitable premises, it will hand over the day-to-day management of the hostels to voluntary organisations familiar with this work, but the association will have power to run its own hostels, which it is hoped will be selfsupporting.
