NATIONAL CANDIDATURE,

HASTINGS, Oct. 2. Nominations closing ou Thursday, October 10, are to be called for the National Party candidate for the seat rendered vacant by the death of Mr A. E. Jull. A fully-attended meeting of the executive committee of the Waipawa Electorate of the National Party decided that the machinery provided by the party rules for the selection of a Parliamentary candidate be set in motion immediately. Branch secretaries throughout the electorate are being issued with detailed instructions. A meeting of the selection committee will be held on October 15.

A motion of sympathy with Mr Juli’s relatives was carried. Members said he had established an excellent record of service, and in his Parliamentary career all felt that he had risen to the occasion splendidly, particularly. in recent months. He had been a great credit to his electorate.
