END OF SEASON

As ■ a grand finale to a successful season, uie Feuding branch or the Britisii Music bocieiy was responsible lor a treat lor music-lovers when a line concert was held in the Memorial .tiaJl at the High School, last eveningi lid programme was presented by anus irorn Wellington. There was a good attendance and the appreciative audience were afforded an opportunity of listening to professionally executed numbers, both vocal and musical. Uhe programme opened with “God Defend New Zealanu," and this was followed by a pianoforte number, “Theme Varie” (Paderewski), by Miss Jocelyn Walker. A group oi tenor solos, “The Vagabond,'’ “Bright Is the iiing of Words,” “The Roadside hire” (it. Vaughan Williams) were sung by Mr Owen Bonilant. The next artiste was Madame Greta Ostava, ’cellist, who played “Melody” (Gluck) and “Hungarian Rhapsody,” displaying her technique and fine musicianship. After repeateu ueniancis she played “Songs My Mother Taught Me (Dvorak). A Debussy group was given by Miss Walker, “Gardens in the Rain” and “Golliwogs’ Cake Walk, biio responded to applause by playing “The Little White Donkey.” Mr Bomfant again delighted with the numbers “My Pretty Jane” (Bishop) and Linden Lea” (Vaughan ’Williams), his encore number being “Turn l'e to Me. Miss AValner concluded her part ot the programme with the very fine rendering of “Scherzo in C Sharp Minor (Chopin), her encore being “The Eft (Schumann). The final items by Mr Bonifant were “A'h, Moon of My D - light” (Liza Lehmann), “Sea Gipsy (Michael Head). Miss Dorothy Davies (Mrs Lochore) proved herself to be a most capable accompaniste and added in no small measure to the success of the concert. After the concert, which was regarded as one of the finest ever presented in Feilding, the artists were entertained at supper by Mr and Mrs^ L During her stay Miss Walker was i the guest of Mr and Mrs M. Andrews, Madame Ostava the guest < af T3 Mr - Mrs L- M. Wotton, and Mr Bonifant the guest of Mr and Mrs C- Hausmann.
