DESTROYER LOSSES.
NAZI EXAGGERATION. (British Official Wireless.) Received September 6. 12.20 p.m. RUGBY, Sept. 5. The German communique issued tpday claims to have sunk during the last few days five British destroyers, including the Express, Esk, and Ivanjioe. The truth is that, apart from the Jvanhoe and Esk, no other British destroyers have been sunk, although one other destroyer, the Express, was damaged, but is safely in port. A Stockholm message says it is estimated that 3000 perished in the German transport which was sunk in the Skagenhorn. If is now stated that a submarine was responsible. See “Warships Lost”—Page 7.
