WAIATA INSTITUTE.
The August meeting of the AVaiata AVomen’s Institute was held at the home of Mrs AValker. Mrs Simpson (vice-president) presided in the absence of the president (Mrs McLeod). One hew member- was elected, Mrs Morphy, of Feilding. Owing to the petrol restrictions members unanimously voted against holding the halfyearly group meeting. A roll-call, “Holiday Impressions,” was well responded to. The thought for the month, “Give of Your Beet” (M. Bridges), was read by Miss Fraser. Mile. Richard, of Feilding, gave an enjoyable talk on her travels through Europe, and later rendered a pianoforte solo which was very much appreciated. Mrs L. Pleasants, of Feilding, also gave much pleasure with a vocal solo. A stall held for the federation funds did a brisk trade. A competition, “Something new from something old,” was judged by Mis* K. Hansen, of Palmerston North, the result being! Mrs H.’ AVilson 1, Mrs Redshaw 2, Mrs Bailey 3; written competition, Miss J. Redshaw 1, Mrs Chambers 2, Mrs Redshaw 3; bloom, Mrs Redshaw 1, Miss J; Redshaw 2, Miss Fraser 3.
