BALKAN TENSION
AXIS PRESSURE. GREEKS REMAIN FIRM. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August- 2d, 1.10 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 25. No immediate relief can be expected from the tension in the Balkans arising out of the Rumano-Himgarian and ltalo-Greek questions, although, according to the British United Press, it is officially announced that the ltu-mano-Hungarian negotiations will be resuming on August 28. The agency says the resumption of the negotiations is due to strong Axis pressure. The Balkans correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that, following the Rumano-Hungarian breakdown, both countries are almost mobilised. The Hungarian frontier is bristling with troops. The Hungarian Government-con-trolled Press asserts that Hungary will stand firm in its territorial demands. Tho Times correspondent in the Balkans, discussing the‘ltalo-Greek situation, points out that whereas 70,000 troops are considered an adequate summer garrison in Albania, the Italian troops there are approaching the 150,000 mark. There have been no further important developments between Italy and Greece so far as is known in official circles in London, says a British Official Wireless message. Unofficial, but wellinformed, quarters are inclined to consider the absence of new moves from the Italian side as indicating that tho main significance of the Italian Press, and wireless attacks may be intimidatory. It docs not appear from Athens reports that the Greeks will be easily intimidated.
