STATE THEATRE, ' “MAN WHO WOULDN’T . TALK.” “The Man Who Wouldn’t Talk” shows to-day at the State Theatre. This -20th Century-Fox film is an unusual, powerful drama that holds ono spellbound from the moment tbc strange central character comes on the screen until the final dramatic denouement. “The Man Who Wouldn’t Talk” is entertainment of the kind that makes you forget you’re in a theatre, so absorbed are you in the story being unfolded bofore your eyes. It is told in such an unusual way that ono is in a constant state of excitement and suspense and the unexpected twists provide ono emotional punch after another. Lloyd Nolan plays the title role, a mysterious character with no past, no friends, ho relatives, who chooses to call himself “Joe Monday.” Featured with him, in tho cast are Jean Rogers, Richard Clarke,, Onslow Stevens and Erie Blore. The greatest, adventure known to man will be thrillingly reconstructed on tbc screen of the State Theatre in Darryl F. Zanuck’s production of “Stanley and Livingstone,” with twice Academy Award winning Spencer Tracy turning in another masterful performance, co-starred . with Nancy Kelly and Richard Greene at the head of one of the greatest, acting casts ever assembled. When Tracy, in tile role of Henry M. Stanley, the crack young reporter on the old New York Herald, spoke these famous words, “Dr Livingstone, I presume?” in the heart oE Africa, drama’s most thrilling moment was stirringly re-enacted in this spectacular 20th Century-Fox film. Producer Zanuek, his associate producer, Kenneth Macgowan, and his director, Henry King, all sticklers for realism, ensured a true and authentic picture of ' tho thrilling adventure and the heroic adventurer who faced all the nameless dangers of unknown Africa—heat, fever, cannibals, jungle—when his fiery' and dynamic publisher, James Gordon Bennett, gave him that memorable assignment: “Find) Livingstone 1” MAYFAIR THEATRE. “BOYS’ TOWN.” Now showing at tho Mayfair Theatre is “Boys’ Town,” a Metro release starring Spencer Tracy as Father Flanagan, Mickey Rooney as Whitey Marsh who is committed to the priest’s care by his brother Joo who has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Scene follows thrilling scene as he endeavours to disrupt Father Flanagan’s community of “Boys’ Town.” Here Whitey loses interest in this small community, and is compelled to leave. Wandering from town to town in search of adventure, Whitey is in' front of the bank when it is liejd up by bandits. Here he recognises his brother Joe, since he 'escaped from prison, as one of the gangsters. For pulse-quickening excitement and heart-stirring drama of to day bo sure to 6ce “Boys’ Town.”
