DANNEVIRKE.
Rotarian' 11. M. Taterc, president-elect of the Dannevirke Rotary Club, was congratulated by the Bishop of Aotearoa at the. club’s weekly luncheon. Rotarian Jatere’s appointment was an honour to the pakeha and also to the Maori race, Bishop Rennett said. He believed that this was tile first occasion in the history of the notary movement that such a high distinction had been placed upon a representative of the Maori people. He paid a sterling tribute to the worthy of Rotarian Tatcre—“a man whose word is as good as his bond.” (Applause.) Bishop Bennett, after congratulating the Rotary Club upon its choice of president for- the ensuing term, referred to the fine work which was being carried out by the Ro'crv Club, and also the people of Dannevirke in the interests of the Maori people.' particularly the splendid lyrk in the education of young Maoris at » iding (the Dannevirke High School. One ot "these youths—Paewai—a medical student at Dunedin University, was doing splendidly and would make a name for himself. (Applause.)
