HIGH PRICES

EWE MUTTON IN DEMAND. FEILDING "STOCK SALE. For the Feilding stock sale to-day a lighter offering of fat sheep was received, but a good yarding of store sheep, with wether hoggets predominating in numbers. In-lamb ewes came to hand in fair numbers and there was also a good offering of ewe hoggets. The quality of the store sheep was very satisfactory throughout. In the cattle pens there was a heavy offering of fat cattle, with both station and ex-dairy beef represented. Boner cattle were penned in smaller numbers, and the station store cattle class, was lightly represented. Most of tho j cattle in the station pens were P.A.I steers with an odd pen of P.A. heifers. 1 A moderate yarding of dairy cattle came to hand.

Sensational prices were paid for ewe mutton when the markfet soared to 44s lOd for this class of sheep, this price being paid for a pen of four on account of Mr H. G. Sainsbury, while Mr A. C. Maxwell secured 44s 4d for a pen of 27 and Mr E. Gorton 42s 4d for a pen of nine. Prices up to 1 p.m. were: Fat sheep.—Wethers, 25s lOd. 26s 4d. 27s 4d. 28s lOd. 29s 4d, 32s 4d, 33s -Id. 36s lOd, 38s, 38s 4d, 38s 10d, 39s lOd. 40s 7d, 40s lOd. 41s Id ; hoggets, 21s 7d, 22s lOd, 23s 7d. 24s 4d 25s 4d, 25s 10d, 27s 4d, 28s lOd, 29s Id, 29s 7d, 33s 7d, 34s 4d. 38s lOd; b.f.’s, 41s lOd; ewes. 24s lOd. 25s lOd, 26s 4d. 26s lOd, 29s lOd, 31s 4d, 35s Id, 35s 4d, 35s lOd ; 37s 4d. 38s 4d. 38s lOd, 39s lOd, 40s Id, 40s 4d. 42s 4d, 42s lOd, 43s Id. 44s 4d, 44s lOd.
