FAIR TO CLOUDY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. G. An anti-cyclone is centred east of Now Zealand, while ail extensive disturbance is approaching from the lasrnan Sea. The forecast is for freshening northerly winds, becoming strong about the Straits, with a few scattered light showers in and west of the ranges, but the weather will be mainly fair to cloudy. Temperatures moderate; seas, moderate but rising. RIVEIt GAUGE. Noon. —2ft. Gin.
